Zorba

Aluminium Zorba Scrap is a type of shredded scrap material that contains a mixture of aluminium and other metals such as copper, brass, and zinc. It is produced by shredding and separating various types of aluminium scrap, including extrusions, castings, wheels, and other forms of scrap.

Zorba scrap is widely used in the secondary aluminium industry as a raw material for the production of new aluminium products. The aluminium content in zorba scrap can vary depending on the source, but typically ranges from 50% to 70%.

Because zorba scrap contains a mixture of metals, it needs to be sorted and processed before it can be used as a raw material. This process involves separating the aluminium from the other metals, which can be done through various methods such as eddy current separation or dense media separation.

Zorba scrap is a valuable resource as it helps reduce the need for virgin aluminium production, which is energy-intensive and creates a significant amount of greenhouse gas emissions. Additionally, recycling aluminium scrap can save up to 95% of the energy required to produce new aluminium from bauxite ore.
